Social Worker – Right@Home Program

  • Temporary, part-time position (0.6), until 30 June 2018
  • Salary range $75,391 to $81,441 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation


Are you looking for something different and an opportunity to provide more intensive services to a smaller caseload?

Are you keen to be part of an exciting service initiative providing support to MCH nurses and services to vulnerable families? 

A  position is available as part of the Right@Home program, which commenced in Ballarat as a research project in 2013. The Right@home program is now in transition from a research model to becoming embedded in the Maternal & Child Health Service, funded by the Victorian Government Department of Education. The role entails providing an intensive home visiting program in accordance with the Maternal and Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting (MESCH) model, including support to M&CH nurses and some direct care interventions. Initial and ongoing training and support in this model is an integral part of the position. 

To be successful in this role you will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with families, colleagues, welfare and early years professionals. You are required to hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work and a current Victorian driver’s licence. Family Partnership training is also desirable but will be provided for suitable applicants.


Key Selection Criteria

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in social work, or related discipline
  • Substantial experience working with vulnerable families and children, particularly in a home based setting.
  • Demonstrated practice based on respect for the values and rights of clients, self and colleagues.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of family dynamics, mental health and the social work issues affecting families
  • Demonstrated ability to manage own workload.
  • Demonstrated commitment to networking and liaison with key community and welfare organisations and Government departments
  • High level of both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team within City of Ballarat right@home service 
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Current Victoria Drivers’ Licence.
  • Working With Children check
